Mitchell, Roy Lee Sr.
Obituary: Roy Lee Mitchell Sr. - Mason-Woodard Mortuary, Joplin, MO
Roy L. Mitchell, Sr., age 62, Joplin, Mo., passed away on Monday September 3, 2007, following a sudden illness.
Roy was born on September 30, 1944 in Stella, Mo., the son of the late Robert and Adliene Mitchell. He married Donna Herndon on March 6, 1992 in Miami, Ok., she survives. He owned and operated Roy’s Dirt Works Inc. in Joplin since 1994. Roy enjoyed raising boxer dogs and fixing dump trucks for shows.
Additional survivors include three sons, Roy L. Mitchell Jr. of Grove, Larry W. Mitchell of Cedar Grove, Tx, Troy E. Berckefeldt of Joplin, Mo.; three daughters, Rebecca Ann Stevenson and husband Tom of Wyandotte, Ok., Tammy Mitchell of Noel, Mo, and Tina Bryant of Joplin, Mo.; two brothers, Earnest R. Mitchell of Grove, Ok., Orville Mitchell of Minden Mines, Mo.; three sisters, Doris Bartlett of Cherokee, Ks., Brenda Prince of Arma, Ks., and Sharon Pryor of Pittsburg, Ks.; fifteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Roy was preceded in death by one brother Clifford Mitchell and one sister Mary Louise Rakestraw.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Chapel. Larry Griffin and Larry Mitchell, Ministers will officiate. Burial will be in Buzzard Cemetery in Grove, Ok.. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday at Mason-Woodard Chapel.
Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Chapel.
