Obituary:  Charles Leroy Rowe - Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, OK

MAY 23, 1925 ~ NOVEMBER 22, 2006 (AGE 81)

Charles Leroy Rowe, age 81, Grove Oklahoma, passed away at 6:07 p.m. on Wednesday, November 22, 2006, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, following an automobile accident on October 22, 2006. Charles was born near Anderson, MO, on May 23, 1925, to William E. (Bill) and Opal Rowe. He graduated from Anderson High School, Anderson, MO. in 1943. Charles proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1943 through 1945 in Japan during World War II. A man of Christian faith, he was a member of the First Christian Church of Grove since 1957, he served as Sunday School Superintendent for over 30 years, was an elder, and served on the church board. He was a dedicated Legion member for over 45 years, serving as Commander, Service Officer, a part of the Veterans Ritual Team as Chaplain, and as a member of U.S. Representative Tom Coburn's Veterans Advisory Committee. HE served his community as a councilman for 16 years on the Grove City Council. Additionally he was a member and Chairman of the grove Municipal Services Authority, a member of the Grove Police Academy, and served on the Delaware County Soil and Water Conservation Board. A daughter, Tammi, two sisters Jean McLachlan and Patricia Howard, Step Sister Cleo McKinnin, and his parents William and Opal Rowe preceded Charles in death. Survivors include his wife Betty, daughter Brenda Bronaugh and husband Mike, son Ron and wife Jean, son Steve and wife Sheila, all of Grove, son Richard and wife Cindy of Afton, OK. Charles is also survived by his two brothers, Bill Rowe, Jr., and his wife Delvia of Grand Junction, Colorado, Jack Rowe and wife Virginia of Mitchell, Indiana, as well as his grandchildren, step grandchildren, great grandchildren, step great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He lived for his family, pets, and enjoyed taking care of his cattle. He was very involved and dedicated in the local city government. The Police Department, Fire Department, Municipal Services Authority, EMS District, Airport, and American Legion Baseball were the center of his daily activities for many years. Services will be Tuesday, November 28th at 2:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Grove, with Wayne Shaw officiating. Visitation will be Monday, November 27th, 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the Worley Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove. Pall bearers will be Lee Dollarhide, Jeff Dozier, Rick Littlefield, Mark Morris, Eddie Rose, Robert Spychalski, Mark Wall and Eddie Wyant. Honorary pall bearers are his many, many other friends and acquaintances.
