Please review the following City of Grove Policy for Sounding Tornado Sirens.

The Emergency Management Director, or his designee, will give the order to activate the tornado sirens based on the following criteria.

1) National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning for an area that is located within an eight (8) mile radius of downtown Grove (3rd Street & Main Street intersection).
The tornado sirens will be sounded as soon as information is received that Grove will be affected or is in the path of the storm.  It is the intent to notify the community as to the impending storm as soon as possible so people will have time to prepare and take shelter.

2)  There is credible sighting of a tornado within an eight (8) mile radius of downtown Grove (3rd Street & Main Street intersection) by a reliable source i.e. Police, Fire EMS, Emergency Management Storm Spotter, legitimate Storm Chaser. The information will be evaluated by Emergency Management if the situation warrants the tornado sirens will be sounded.

3)  The Police Chief or his designee may give an order to activate the tornado sirens in the event of any emergency or for the purpose of testing the system.

There are no designated public shelters located within the City of Grove.
