Tribal, Potawatomi Nation

POTAWATOMI NATION TRIBAL SEAL -  The Potawatomi Nation’s Seal has its own particular symbolism, with each piece standing for a significant piece of Potawatomi heritage and history.  Originally the Potawatomi were part of a larger group of tribal nations including the Chippewa and Ottawa, sometimes referred to as Odawa.  Upon their moves out of Canada to the shores of the Great Lakes, the three peoples split into separate tribal nations.

United States Army Air Force 461st Bomb Group

U. S. ARMY AIR FORCE 461ST BOMB GROUP -  The 461st Operations Group is a joint Air Force/Army unit flying the Northrop Grumman E-8 Joint STARS aircraft.  The group is assigned to the 461st Air Control Wing of Air Combat Command and is stationed at Robins Air Force Base, Georgia. It was most recently activated on Oct 1, 2011.

Star, Blue

BLUE STAR MEMORIALS -  The Blue Star Memorial Program honors all men and women that serve in the United States Armed Services.  This program began with the planting of 8,000 Dogwood trees by the New Jersey Council of Garden Clubs in 1944 as a living memorial to veterans of World War II.  In 1945, the National Council of State Garden Clubs adopted this program and began a Blue Star Highway system that covers thousands of miles across the Continental United States, Alaska and Hawaii.

National Society U. S. Daughters of 1812

NATIONAL SOCIETY U. S. DAUGHTERS OF 1812 -  The United States Daughters of 1812 is a patriotic society founded in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1892, and incorporated as a national organization on February 25, 1901.   It presents itself as a "volunteer women's service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving and increasing knowledge of the history of the American people."   In its early years the group served "fraternal interests [of] women whose lineal ancestors served in the civil government, the army or the navy of the United States" between 1784 and 1815.

Veteran, U. S. Submarine

U. S. SUBMARINE VETERAN -  The United States Submarine Veterans, Inc. (USSVI) was created by a group of men from the United States Submarine Veterans of World War II.  They shared a belief in the need of an organization open to all United States Navy submariners, from the very beginning of the Submarine Service to the present and into the future - not limited to just those who served so ably in World War II.  They wanted to ensure their shipmates who were killed in action on submarines would never be forgotten.

Medal, Distinguished Service

DISTINGUISHED SERVICE MEDAL -  The Distinguished Service Medal (DSM) is a military award of the United States Army that is presented to any person who, while serving in any capacity with the United States military, has distinguished himself or herself by exceptionally meritorious service to the Government in a duty of great responsibility.  The performance must be such as to merit recognition for service that is clearly exceptional. Exceptional performance of normal duty will not alone justify an award of this decoration.

City wide Spring Clean-up April 17 - 22, 2017

The City of Grove annual city wide Spring Clean-up is set for April 17 - 22, 2017.

Curbside pick up will be April 17-21, 2017.  To provide adequate time to prepare, residents may place items at the curb beginning April 10, 2017.

Waste Tire Disposal will be held 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the Grove Public Works Facility located on North Cherokee April 17-21, 2017; and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2017.

Council approves a Fun and Formal branding to promote Wolf Creek Park

 

The City of Grove entered into an agreement with two  local artists regarding ownership rights to a 'FUN' branding and a 'FORMAL' branding for Wolf Creek Park, Grove, Oklahoma on Grand Lake O'the Cherokees.

Phyllis Pace created the character 'Wolfie' and Judy McHenry created the formal logo for Wolf Creek Park. 

Wolfie and the Wolf Creek Park logos are a trademark of the City of Grove.

Council approves bids for Street Repairs to begin in Spring 2017

The City of Grove Council voted unanimously to approve a $714,356.95 bid from Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc. to complete the 2016 Pavement Rehabilitation Plan.  Click the link below to view the streets and type of construction that will be done.
