Daughters of the Republic of Texas (DRT)

DAUGHTERS OF THE REPUBLIC OF TEXAS (DRT) -  The Daughters of the Republic of Texas (DRT) is a lineal association dedicated to perpetuating the memory of the founding families and soldiers of the Republic of Texas.  The Daughters of the Republic of Texas is best known for its former role as caretakers of The Alamo.   In early 2015, Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush officially removed control of the Alamo to the Texas General Land Office.   The DRT are also the custodians of the historic French Legation Museum owned by the State of Texas.

Apple

APPLE -  Symbolic of knowledge and found often on the gravestones of educators.   Though the forbidden fruit in the Book of Genesis is not identified, popular tradition holds that Adam and Eve ate an apple from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil in the Garden of Eden.  This may have been the result of Renaissance painters adding elements of Greek mythology into biblical scenes.   The unnamed fruit of Eden thus became an apple under the influence of the story of the golden apples in the Garden of Hesperides.

Colonial Dames of America (CDA)

COLONIAL DAMES OF AMERICA (CDA) -  The Colonial Dames of America (CDA) is an American organization composed of women who are descended from an ancestor who lived in British America from 1607–1775, and was of service to the colonies by either holding public office, being in the military, or serving the Colonies in some other "eligible" way.  The National Headquarters is at Mount Vernon Hotel Museum in New York City, which was purchased by the CDA in 1924.

Hells Angels Motorcycle Club (HAMC)

HELLS ANGELS MOTORCYCLE CLUB (HAMC) -  The Hells Angels were started on March 17, 1948, by the Bishop family, American war immigrants in Fontana, California.   The Hells Angels' website denies the suggestion that any misfit or malcontent troops are connected with the motorcycle club. The website also notes that the name was suggested by Arvid Olsen, an associate of the founders, who had served in the Flying Tigers' "Hell's Angels" squadron in China during World War II.

Tribal, Choctaw Nation

CHOCTAW NATION TRIBE SEAL -  An unstrung bow, encompassing three arrows and a smoking pipe-hatchet, symbolizes history and tradition of the Choctaw Indians.  This seal was used on all official papers of the Choctaw Nation until 1907, when the Indian and Oklahoma Territories united as the State of Oklahoma.
