Obituary: Lillie Marie (Meadows) Baty - Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, OK

JANUARY 10, 1922 ~ DECEMBER 21, 2015 (AGE 93)

Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, Oklahoma 918-786-2261 Lillie Marie Baty, just three weeks before her 94th birthday, went home to be with her Savior and Lord on Monday, December 21, 2015 at the Grove Nursing Center. Lillie's hearts desire to be reunited with her loving husband, Perry Baty, of 73 years has finally been realized. Lillie was born on January 10, 1922 to Joseph Perry and Viola Meadows at their home east of Grove. She was born the oldest daughter of 8 children and was a mother figure to her younger brothers and sisters while her mother worked along side their father on the family farm. Lillie attended Grove Schools and excelled in math and love to recall proving her math teacher wrong at times, to the point that, when times required, Lillie to remain at home to care for the younger siblings, he even made a home visit to plead with her parents for her return to school. While singing in the choir at the Olympus School, Lillie first saw Perry and knew he would be her husband. On May 23, 1942, Perry and Lillie were married at the Jay Oklahoma jailhouse, and Perry always lovingly referred to her as "his jail house bride, with a lifetime warranty". So began 73 years of marriage together, through better or worse, they always put their trust and faith in God. Lillie was a strong prayer warrior and she and Perry were instrumental in starting the Nazarene Church in Grove. She was devoted to serving the Lord as a Sunday school teacher, Church Treasurer as well as teaching her children and grandchildren about Jesus. On their farm, she kept a family garden, milked cows, and sewed much of the family clothes and quilts. She spent 10 years working at Burlington's Factory in Miami, Oklahoma sewing jeans and jackets. She truly enjoyed the family get togethers, Saturday night singings and game nights with friends and family. She was even known to organize surprise birthday parties, which we enjoyed. Lillie was an awesome cook and famous for her coconut cream pies and red hot apples. All her life, Lillie, truly was a care giver at heart as she cared for her husband and family and grandchildren through the years, even taking care of her parents and Perry's mother till their deaths. She never tired at doing good and helping others along the many years. Lillie was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers Truman, Robert and Joel D. Meadows and her husband, Perry Baty, one grandson Jeremiah Baty and son-in-law David Brodrick. Lillie is survived by her three children; Charles B Baty (Bonnie) of Colcord, Oklahoma, H.L. "Lawrence" Baty (Alice) of Redmond, Oregon and daughter Evelyn Brodrick of Grove, Oklahoma, two brothers John Wiley Meadows of Stevenson, Washington and Franklin Meadows of St. Helen, Michigan; two sisters Lou Hardesty of Tiff City, Missouri and Jane Mahurin of Miami, Oklahoma. Lillie was blessed with ten grandchildren; David Baty, Charlene Gooding (Travis), June Goodman, Charles F. Baty (Becky), Saundja Suttle, Leah Sullivan, Jannaeah Duncan, Sunni Porter (David), Jeremy Brodrick (Jennifer) and Jeffrey Brodrick (Sissy) and 25 Great Grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren. We will honor and celebrate the life of Lillie at visitation from 4-6PM on Sunday, December 27, 2015, at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home and with services being held at 1:00 PM, Monday, December 28, 2015 at Delaware Baptist Church with Rev.
