Buzzard Cemetery

Located in Delaware County, OK Sec 36 Twp 25 R23, the Buzzard Cemetery is located on 55th Street just east of Highway 59 North in Grove.

Buzzard Cemetery was one of six established by Grand River Dam Authority to relocate graves from cemeteries to be flooded by the filling of Grand Lake. This Cemetery was specifically planned to accommodate removals from Buzzard Springs Cemetery in Section 22 and Carey Cemetery in Section 35, both Twp 25 Range 23.

Grand River Dam Authority bought four (4) acres for the new cemetery from William P. Mayes for $400.00 by deed dated November 6, 1939. In February, 1940 GRDA transferred the property by warranty deed to The Buzzard Cemetery Corporation which operated the Cemetery until 1968.

In 1967, the area including Buzzard Cemetery was annexed into the City limits of Grove, OK. In 1968, the city of Grove officially took over the care and maintenance of this cemetery and continues those duties today.

The transcription of this Cemetery begins in the Southwest corner of each Section and moves South to North on each row.  The Cemetery transcription was completed in November, 2015 by Penny (EISENBARGER) HARRELL and may not be reproduced without written permission.
