Obituary: Carl L. Rakestraw - Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, OK

JANUARY 12, 1935 ~ SEPTEMBER 10, 2009 (AGE 74)

Carl Rakestraw, age 74 of Grove, Oklahoma, died Thursday, September 10, 2009 in the Grove Nursing Center. The son of Carl and Annie Crouse Rakestraw, he was born on January 12, 1935 in Pittsburg, KS. Carl married Mary Louise Mitchell on April 17, 1957 in Girard, KS and she preceded him in death on July 20, 2006. They moved to Grove from Scammon, KS in 1985, after his retirement from McNally's Foundry. Carl was an avid fisherman, NASCAR fan, dirt track racer and thoroughly enjoyed his kids and grandkids. Carl proudly served in the Army during Vietnam. His father, his brother Rolland C. Rakestraw and his wife Mary Louise Rakestraw preceded Carl in death. Carl is survived by his mother, Annie Crouse, five sons; Kenneth Rakestraw of Grove, Oklahoma, Steve Rakestraw of Ottawa, Kansas, Randy Rakestraw of Pittsburg, Kansas, Tim Rakestraw of Weir Kansas, Dennis Rakestraw of Pittsburg Kansas, two daughters; Vickie Rakestraw of Panama City, Florida and Tina Young of Pittsburg, Kansas, twenty-three grandchildren, fourteen grandchildren, and one brother Donald Rakestraw of Frontenac, Kansas.   Arrangements are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove, Oklahoma.
